Healthcare for the Jérémie Jail

In addition to organizing mobile medical clinics in nearby villages, we occasionally conduct clinics at the Jérémie Jail. The jail often lacks the funds to provide adequate medical care, and the need is immense. Conditions are dire—standing room only in concrete cells under Haiti’s relentless heat and humidity, with many waiting months just to be charged with a crime. These clinics provide critical care to an underserved and vulnerable population.

Pilot Program: Improving Tuberculosis (TB) Treatment

Tuberculosis (TB) is a prevalent issue in Haiti, but treatment adherence is often a challenge. Taking medications on an empty stomach can cause nausea, leading some patients to abandon treatment altogether. To address this, we have launched a pilot program that provides funding for food to help TB patients complete their treatment and improve health outcomes.

Combating Malaria with Affordable Testing

Malaria remains a widespread issue in Haiti. Recently, we began supplying our Haitian doctors with affordable malaria test kits to replace those previously provided by USAID. These kits allow for faster and more accurate diagnoses, enabling timely treatment for those affected.

Supporting the Gebeau Medical and Eye Clinic

We continue to provide financial and logistical support to the medical and eye clinic located in Gebeau, near the Foyer Orphanage. This facility is the only healthcare center in the area, offering essential TB treatments and serving as the only eye clinic in the Grand’Anse province. In a typical year, our support for the Gebeau Clinic exceeds $30,000, ensuring it can continue to provide life-saving care to the community.
