Located near Jérémie’s village center, Good Sam is a safe haven for 11 seniors who would otherwise face homelessness. With the capacity to accommodate up to 20 elderly men and women, Good Sam provides a secure and nurturing environment for its residents.

Over the Years
Over the years, we’ve made numerous improvements to Good Sam, to create a safe and comfortable space worthy of the long lives of its residents. Listed below are some of the more significant projects our team has undertaken:
Installed a solar power system
Rebuilt the dining hall roof after Hurricane Matthew
Provided a new toilet and shower
Repaired the water cistern
Installed window screens and curtains
Improved perimeter security
Added other items to ensure the residents’ comfort

When we visit Good Sam, the kind ladies often gather together to sing a Haitian folk song—a beautiful and heartfelt “thank you” for the support they receive. Moments like these remind us of the joy and comfort Good Sam brings to its residents.
Operating Costs
The annual operating costs for Good Sam are relatively modest, at approximately $18,000. However, this amount can increase when significant repairs or upgrades are required.
