A New Home for the Foyer Orphanage
In 2021, Jeremie Rising became aware of an orphanage in Jérémie that was in urgent need of assistance, primarily for facility improvements. However, before upgrades could be made, the orphanage received an eviction notice due to a family dispute over land ownership.
Our Haitian team members worked tirelessly to delay the eviction and began fully renovating an abandoned orphanage facility located on church grounds in Gebeau, a suburb of Jérémie. By early March 2022, the children moved into their new home—each with their own bed and access to showers and flush toilets!
Ongoing Support for the Foyer Orphanage
Jeremie Rising employs a full-time project manager to oversee the Foyer Orphanage and ensures the children have everything they need to thrive. These annual costs total between $25,000 and $30,000. While we have some donors specifically supporting the Foyer Orphanage, we would greatly welcome additional donors to help fully cover these expenses. Our support includes:
Food, Water, and Cooking Fuel
Providing daily essentials for the children and staff.
Healthcare
Monthly wellness care from a visiting nurse.
Special Needs Care
A dedicated staff member to care for children with special needs.
Education
School tuition for all children.
Facilities and Security
Solar power, ongoing maintenance, and nighttime security.

The Foyer Orphanage in Gebeau is home to:
- 15 Girls and 15 Boys: Including 6 children with special needs.
- 6 Dedicated Staff Members: Providing care, support, and guidance.
